Family Fitness Program Curriculum

The Family Fitness Program is an evidenced-based, national-award-winning curriculum developed by Penn State Cooperative Extension to provide parents and children grades three through five with the information, skills, and motivational guidance necessary to achieve a healthy diet and level of physical activity. This research-based program has been found to significantly improve fruit, vegetable, whole grain, and low-fat dairy consumption; positive family communication and collaboration on planning and preparing healthy meals, snacks, and physical activity; minutes and enjoyment of child and family physical activity; health goal setting and maintaining a healthy body weight. It meets Pennsylvania academic standards for science, math, health, reading, writing, speaking, listening, and family and consumer sciences.
